Rebecca is a qualified social worker and holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Social Work. She has been working with young people in the Top End for over two years and has been employed as NT Legal Aid Commission’s Youth Justice Worker since the role’s creation at the start of 2017. In this role, Rebecca supports youth justice clients of NTLAC through their court matters and assists in addressing any social issues that have arisen surrounding their offending or circumstances. This support can take the form of case management, outreach, education, short-term interventions, and throughcare planning. As well as individual client work, Rebecca has facilitated regular legal education sessions for students at Don Dale and flexible learning centres in Darwin, and has presented on the topic of social workers and lawyers working together for legal and justice professionals. Rebecca is passionate about the empowering potential of legal services and the importance of strengths-based and educational approaches to working with youth in the justice system.
